  1. I like the idea of using Glogster to present information. It is a great alternative to the basic book report or cardboard diagrams that students may be used to doing. I found Glogster very fun and easy to use. I feel the customization of Glogster will allow the students to feel they are in control of their project rather than just being assigned something.

  2. Hello Jerry,
Very creative lesson plan. I love the fact that you actually implement technology learning resource that we use through this course in your lesson plan. I really believe that teaching children by technology tools really help to grab their attention and also help to increase their understanding of both the lesson and how to use these tool effective in their learning experience.

  3. Students often find school work "boring" As teachers it is our job to create lessons that both engage our students as well as teach them. This lesson does both. I also like the way you plan to assess your students using technology and presentations. They will love the idea.

  4. I enjoyed looking over the research project you created. I read in your reflection in the future you would give less topics. I actually liked the multiple options students were given. In my opinion, it creates more excitement during presentation day for students and teachers to learn about multiple topics. It may be difficult to grade multiple theme projects. However, if you create a general rubric of what should be included in presentation it should be successful. Lastly, I liked how you brought a joy rigor to a research project. Students are more invested in their work when they enjoy what they are doing. Having the opportunity for students to present their work on a computer really keeps the engagement high. Overall, great project I enjoyed reading all the parts.

  5. Having students use Prezi in order to present what they have learned about Egypt is an excellent strategy. It assesses students understanding of the content while getting them acquainted with new literacies.

  6. This is exemplary! I like how you allow students using Glogster or Prezi to practice their new literacy skills. As you indicated in the report, kids are not so much challenged by the technology, but the research and citation skills. It is meaningful for them to use multiple formats to help their knowledge construction. I also like how new literacy is incorporated into the assessment. Brilliant! :D

  7. Thank you all for your insightful comments.

Carrying out the project has been an interesting and educationally rich experience. It was a lot of had work, but yes, giving students choice was perhaps one of the best decisions, although it was hard to allow students to do so, as it is non traditional in social studies classes that often follow a linear curriculum.

    Regards,

    Jerry
